On July 4th we spent our day hanging out in Waikiki soaking up the sun and catching some of the latest action at the wall. While this is a beautiful place to enjoy some fun in the sun and a splash in the water, we CAUTION you that it is very DANGEROUS to jump off the wall and to boogie board here due to the shallow waters that surround the wall. The beach has black sand created by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools. This volcanic activity is in the Hawai?i Volcanoes National Park.</p> <p>Punalu&#8217;u is frequented by endangered Hawksbill Turtles and Green Sea Turtles, which can often be seen basking on the black sand. Visitors must remain 15 feet from the turtles at all times. The swimming area is very rocky, and it can be dangerous to swim. The beach also has a large amount of underground fresh water that flows in it. This fresh water is very cold and looks almost like gasoline mixing with the water. Why? Well many are concerned about the <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/EIS" rel="tag" target="_blank">EIS</a> not being accomplished and therefore believe the <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Superferry" rel="tag" target="_blank">Superferry</a> should be banned from the <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/outer+islands" rel="tag" target="_blank">outer islands</a>. In <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Maui" rel="tag" target="_blank">Maui</a> a Judge has issued a <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/TRO" rel="tag" target="_blank">TRO</a> restricting the Superferry from traveling there. On <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Kauai" rel="tag" target="_blank">Kauai</a> the citizens got together and staged an in water protest to block the Superferry using their bodies. One thing that really gets to me is the disregard of <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Aloha" rel="tag" target="_blank">Aloha</a> towards the local residents. I ask again, where has the Aloha gone? Sharks Cove was rated by <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Scuba+Diving+Magazine" rel="tag" target="_blank">Scuba Diving Magazine</a>, July 1996, one of the &#8220;Top Twelve Shore Dives in the World&#8221;. This small rocky bay forms part of <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Pupukea+Beach+Park" rel="tag" target="_blank">Pupukea Beach Park</a> and boasts blue water and an impressive amount of sea life. The bottom is made up of large smooth boulders and coral heads forming small caves and ledges for marine life to hide. The walls of the surrounding cliffs provide calmer water attracting schooling surface fish. On the south side of Sharks Cove is the <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Pupukea" rel="tag" target="_blank">Pupukea</a> tide pools; a great place to wade and explore. While going down the elevator can be fun, it is not recommended for the <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/faint+of+heart" rel="tag" target="_blank">faint of heart</a>. Caution advised!
